Pajaritos de Calamar. 1ª parte / Squid Jigs. Part 1

Primer paso, el material para hacer el cuerpo / First step, the material used to make the body

Hoy empiezo con las entradas sobre la fabricación de “Pajaritos” de Calamar. A muchos no les va a gustar. No me disculpo. No siento que desvelo ningún secreto y voy a explicar en pocas palabras porque;

Todo lo que aquí explicaré lo he descubierto yo, nadie me contó nada de nada. Todo lo que seguirá sobre materiales o proceso lo he desarrollado yo a base de “prueba y error”, Jamás me han contado nada de nada.

Y lo más importante. Soy profesor y lo mío es enseñar. Ya os gustaría que el profesor de matemáticas no explique que 2 + 2 = 4 porque es secreto y se gana la vida sabiéndolo, pero no quiere que lo sepas tú por si le quitas el trabajo. ¡Tonterías!

Yo utilizo madera de balsa. Prefiero la madera de balsa por varias razones pero la más importante es porque es ecológica. Todos los materiales que utilizo son lo más ecológico que encontré en estos 2 años de desarrollo. Lo único que no puedo cambiar es utilizar plomo por la sencilla razón de que las hago en mi piso y otros metales me resultan imposibles de moldear y después limar para que cada “pajarito” quede perfectamente equilibrado. La madera de balsa viene en varias densidades (igual que el poliuretano) y los mejores sitios para comprarla es en tiendas de modelismo (Maquetas). Yo utilizo alta densidad. Hablar con la tienda y os explicará cuales tienen. La que se usa para hacer aviones, por ejemplo, es demasiado ligera. En La Coruña ciudad un sitio es “Manitas” en Riazor.

Para los que vais a utilizar poliuretano uno bueno es de densidad 400 y aquí os dejo los enlaces de donde podéis conseguir las planchas. (Las medidas y densidades están en los enlaces).

Como ya he explicado, yo prefiero madera de balsa y al ir paso a paso explicaré la diferencia en respeto al poliuretano.

I use balsa wood. I prefer balsa wood for various reasons but the most important is that it’s environmentally friendly. All the materials I use are as environmentally friendly as I could find in these last two years of research. The only thing I can’t change is using lead for the weight (sinker) for the simple reason that I make these jigs in my flat and other metals are far too difficult to mould and later file so that every single squid jig is perfectly balanced. Balsa wood comes in different densities (as does Polyurethane) and the best place to buy it is a modelling shop. I use a high (heavy) density. Speak with the shop assistant and he/she should be able to explain which they have. The one used for model aeroplanes is too light for example. Find a shop in your area.

If you want to use Polyurethane a high density (400) is recommended.

Pintando un Señuelo 1 / Painting a Lure 1

Hace tiempo un amigo me regalo un señuelo que ya había visto mejores épocas. Al ser un Duo Tide Minnow Surf decidí intentar darle algo más de vida.


Some time ago a friend gave me a lure that had seen better days. As it was a Duo Tide Minnow Surf I decided to try and give it a little more life.

Así estaba cuando me lo dieron. / This is how it was when given to me.

Lo lije / I sanded it down

Utilicé primatizador multiusos gris pero después de la experiencia utilizaría uno blanco.

I used a multi use grey primer but after my experience I would choose a white primer.

Usé cinta de pintor para enmascarar.

I used masking tape to mask.

La pintura que compré resulto ser muy polvoriza pero los colores me gustaron.

The paint I bought ended up being very powdery but I liked the colours.

3 capas finas mucho mejor que 1 gorda.

3 fine coats much better than 1 thick one.

Lo mismo con el barniz.

The same with the varnish.

Colocar los triples y a pescar.

Attach the trebles and go fishing

No he quedado satisfecho con el resultado pero el siguiente ira mejor.

I’m no t satisfied with the result the next one will be better.
