Cucharillas Edu / Edu Spinner Baits

Bueno hoy por fin tuve oportunidad de probar las cucharillas Edu con tiempo y tranquilidad.

La experiencia fue mejor que buena. ¡Me encantaron! No es una pesca a la que estoy acostumbrado de practicar, es decir, suelo ir con señuelo estilo Rapala aunque no sea necesariamente de esta marca.

1º Lanzan muy bien. Lo cual es de esperar por el peso concentrado en un volumen pequeño.

2º Son muy fáciles de controlar. Giran perfectamente con recogida lenta, súper lenta, lo cual deja andar por las profundidades sin que suba por tener que recoger rápido para que giren.

3º Su construcción aguantó golpes contra rocas y algún bajo.

No pesque nada, ni lubina, ni sarreta (abadejo pequeño), ni caballa. Esto no puedo decir que fue por la cucharilla porque tampoco pesque con los señuelos duros (Rapala) ni con los vinilos y tampoco con unos jigs (el mar no estaba para chivo). Los peces no estaban por el labor de ser capturados. Había otros rapaleros que marcharon con la misma suerte o sea que tampoco me culpo a mí mismo.

Desde mi última entrada hubo mejoras en las cucharillas por lo tanto las puedo recomendar y ya tienen su sitio en mi equipo de spinning.

I finally had the opportunity of trying Edu’s Spinner Baits with enough time for a good trial.

The experience was better than good. I loved them! It isn’t a style I’m accustomed to, that is to say, I generally spin with Rapala style lures even if not necessarily that make.

1^st They cast really well, which is to be expected from something of that weight and small volume.

2^nd They are very easy to control. They spin perfectly with a very slow retrieval, very slow, which allows searching the depths without bringing them to surface for having to retrieve quickly in order for them to spin.

3^rd Their construction held up to knocks on rocks both above and under the surface.

I didn’t catch anything, no sea bass, no Pollack, no mackerel. I can’t blame the spinner baits because I also tried hard lures, soft lures and jigs. (the conditions weren’t right for chivo, see entry on “chivos” if you don’t know what they are). The fish weren’t into being caught. There were other anglers spinning who left with the same fate so I can’t blame myself either.

Since my last entry on the subject Edu’s spinner baits have undergone upgrades so I can highly recommend them and they now have their place in my spinning kit.

Alicates Van Staal / Van Staal Pliers

No sé qué decir. Los alicates de pesca más alucinantes que jamás he tenido en mis manos. Los de las fotos tienen ya ¡dos años! Los lavo si me acuerdo, los trato mal, corto de todo y siguen teniendo un aspecto, pues como podéis ver, ¡nuevos!

Lo único que puedo decir es que no tienen el pico para los llaveritos de los señuelos, pero, ¿y qué?

No sé cuando pueda adquirir un carrete de spinning Van Staal (completamente hermético), pero no cuestan más que un Daiwa Saltiga por dar un ejemplo. Os dejo el enlace.

I don’t know what t say. The most spectacular fishing pliers I’ve ever held in my hand. The ones in the pictures are two years old! I wash them If I remember, I treat them badly, I cut anything and as you can see they look, well, NEW!

The only thing against I can say is the don’t have the peak for the lure key rings, but, so what?

I have no idea when I’ll be able to acquire a Van Staal spinning Reel (completely watertight), but they don’t cost any more than a Daiwa Saltiga. Here’s the link

Primera impresión de las cucharillas Edu para mar - First impressioms of Edu sea spinner baits

Hace unos días recibí un correo de Cucharillas Edu para probar y contaros lo que pensaba de sus cucharillas para mar.

A few days ago I received an e-mail from Edu Spinner Baits so as to try their sea spinner baits.

Mi primera impresión es buena y su fábrica aunque pequeña está bien organizada y no tengo duda de que las cucharillas son buenas.

My first impressions are good and the factory although small is well organized and I have little doubt that the spinner baits are good.

Hay alguna cosa que en mi opinión personal se puede mejorar y os lo cuento en el video.

In my personal opinion there are some things that can improve which I mention in the video.

Después de varios años empezando con el “Long Cast” y progresando por el “X Rap” Rapala consigue evolucionar sus señuelos con precios razonables de Spinning para el mar. Bueno casi, aun tienen un problema el cual explicaré.

Los Max Rap de 15 y 17cm ha puesto a Rapala entre los señuelos estilo “slim” flotantes más eficaces del mercado.

La gama de colores es buena pero de momento limitada aunque estoy seguro que en poco tiempo, teniendo en cuenta su éxito, mejoraran.

Empecemos.

Carrete: Shimano Twin Power 5000 FB. Hilo: Fireline fusionado 0,19mm.

Con una caña de 3mt lanzar este señuelo 50 – 60 metros (sin viento) es fácil. Las bolas de dentro (transferencia de peso) hacen su función perfectamente y es raro que se enrede, es decir, que el hilo quede debajo del triple de delante. Esto significa que vuela buen y recto.

Con una vuelta de carrete, o un tirón, las bolas interiores se colocan en posición de navegación inmediatamente y el señuelo queda flotando en horizontal perfecto.

El babero es fuerte y algo entre el babero del Daiwa Saltiga y el Duo Tide Minnow Slim dándole una acción rolling (culetéo) tanto con recogida lenta o rápida y trabaja tanto con mar tranquilo o movido. Baja entre 20 y 90cm dependiendo de la velocidad de recogida y posición de caña (puntera alta o baja). Al parar de recoger sube a la superficie lento y horizontal casi como un señuelo suspendido.

Los anzuelos son de VMC buenos. Afilados, fuertes y resistentes al salitre aunque endulzándolos después de uso les viene bien (como a todos).

El problema (siempre hay algo) es la pintura. La pintura se empieza a escamar y desaparece demasiado rápido lo cual de momento es mejor comprar los que menos pintura y mas holográfico tienen.

After several years starting with the “Long Cast” and progressing through the “X Rap” Rapala manages to evolve their lures at reasonable prices for sea spinning. Well nearly, they still have a problem which I shall explain.

The Max Rap 15 and 17cm has put Rapala among the most effective floating “slim” style lures on the market.

The colour range is good but still a little limited (Spain) although I’m sure this will shortly better bearing in mind their success.

We’ll begin.

Reel: Shimano Twin Power 5000 FB. Line: Fireline Fused 0.19mm.

With a 3mt rod casting these lures 50 – 60mt is easy (no wind). The balls inside (weight transfer) do their job perfectly and it’s rare to tangle, that is to say, that the line ends up under the front treble. This means they fly well and straight.

With one turn of the reel, or a tug, the interior balls place themselves in the swim position immediately and it stays floating in a perfect horizontal position.

The bib or lip is something between the Daiwa Saltiga and the Duo Tide Minnow Slim giving it a rolling action (tail action) either with calm or choppy seas. It dives to between 20 – 90cm depending on the speed of retrieval or position of the rod (tip high or low). When you stop it floats up slowly in a perfect horizontal position almost like a suspended lure.

The trebles are good VMC. Sharp, strong and resistant to the saline though after use a wash in fresh water does them good (as with all).

The problem (there’s always one) is the paint job. The paint starts to flake and peel off much too soon so for the moment buying the ones with less paint and opting for the more holographic is better.

Mochila Sling de Rapala / Rapala Sling Back Pack

La Mochila “Sling” de Rapala es cómoda y práctica.

The Rapala “Sling” back pack is comfortable and practical.

Contiene dos compartimentos con dos cajas sujetadas con velcro para los señuelos

Contains two compartments with two boxes fixed with Velcro for lures

Tiene un bolsillo especial para tijeras con clip de seguridad y otro bolsillo con cremallera pequeño para documentos o en mi caso una navaja. También tiene otro bolsillo con cremallera mucho mas amplio para bobinas de hilos o cajitas etc. 

It has a pocked for scissors with security clip and a small zipped pocked for documentation or in my case a penknife. It also has another much bigger zipped pocket for lines or boxes etc.

Con darle media vuelta tienes el bolsillo grande a mano y cuando abres los compartimentos te queda como una mesa muy practica para elegir o cambiar de señuelo.

With a half turn the larger pocket is at hand and when you open the compartments it becomes a small table which is very practical for choosing or changing lures.

Lo bueno y lo malo / The good and the bad

Lo bueno es que es muy práctica, pesa poco, flota y las cajas de plástico están sujetas con Velcro por lo tanto se pueden quitar para lavar o cambiar de caja.

The good is that it’s practical, very light, it floats and the plastic boxes are held in position with Velcro so they can be removed to wash or to change the box.

Las cajas originales son lo suficiente profundas para meter mis bobinas del Twin Power 5000, pero los compartimientos dentro de la caja son demasiado cortas para señuelos largos.

The original boxes are deep enough to put my Twin Power 5000 spools, but the compartments inside the box are too short for the longer lures.

No está diseñada para aguas saladas y por lo tanto aunque las cremalleras son de plástico las hebillas no y se puede acumular salitre y el clip de las tijeras se puede oxidar.

It isn’t designed for salt water so even though the zips are plastic the buckles aren’t and salt can accumulate and the clip for the scissors can rust.

Soluciones / Solutions

Todo tiene remedio y en este caso es muy fácil.

Primero, lo de las cremalleras y clip se le echa grasa y problema resuelto. Lo de las cajas de plástico, yo cambié una de ellas a una caja “plano”, le coloque Velcro por la parte de abajo y ya está. Esta que se ve en las fotos lleva unos cuatro años conmigo y aguantará otros cuatro o más. ¡ojalá todo fuese tan fácil!

Everything has a remedy and in this case a very easy one.

First, The zip and clip problem is solved by greasing them up. The plastic box problem, I changed one of the boxes for a “Plano” box, added some Velcro to the bottom and that’s it. This one we see in the pictures has been with me for about four years and it’ll last another four or more. If only everything were that easy!
