Los Temporales – Una Opinión - Storms - An Opinion

Los temporales vienen bien para limpiar el lecho marino de restos de la naturaleza, es decir, algas, restos animales (cadáveres) y putrefacción en general. También para levantar y limpiar restos dejados por barcos especialmente pesqueros, redes rotas, boyas perdidas, cabos etc. Esto no es una crítica a la flota pesquera, es una realidad que tenemos que asumir si queremos comer pescado.

Otra cosa es la basura, Especialmente plásticos. En mi pagina de “El Mar, La Política, y El Dinero” tengo un documental colgado titulado “Plastic Seas”, es en inglés y para los que no lo entienden es una pena. En este documental explican lo que ocurre con tanto plástico en los océanos y como llega a matar millones de criaturas especialmente “cetáceos”. Es increíble pensar que un bicho tan grande como la ballena azul (el mamífero más grande del planeta) muere por una bolsa de plástico.

La política en general es una farsa. Solo les interesa ganar elecciones y terminan corruptos. Imaginaros si un candidato a la alcaldía propusiera un dispositivo de limpieza en las zonas donde se acumula esta basura (puertos por ejemplo) y que abría una subida de impuestos para pagar dicho dispositivo. ¿Le votarías tú?

Hay un proverbio de los americanos nativos (indios) que dice algo como:

“Nosotros no heredamos la tierra de nuestros padres sino que la tenemos prestada de nuestros hijos”.

Concienciar a los jóvenes (y adultos, ¿Por qué no?) es un paso, pero demasiado lento y me temo que estamos quedando sin tiempo.

Mi propuesta:

Prohibir redes de pesca no biodegradables. Igual con cabos y otros materiales que necesitan, pero sin subida de precio por dichos artículos. No multar al barco que utilice las redes de nylon, cabos etc. sino a las impresas que las fabriquen o vendan con sumas altísimas imposibles de pagar y por lo tanto cerrar dicha impresa de golpe.

Para los particulares que tiren cosas dañinas al medio ambiente también multar con cantidades altísimas y olvidarnos de “insolvencia”, me explico, por cada 1000€ de multa se le da la opción al infractor de pagar con dinero o tiempo en cárcel, por ejemplo, 3000€ o 3 meses de cárcel, que decida el infractor.

¿Si me presento a la alcaldía votarías por mí?

Frank. Un hombre sin hijos y más preocupado del futuro que la mayoría de padres que conozco.

Storms are a good thing to clean the sea bed from nature’s remains, that is to say, seaweed, animal remains, and putrefaction in general. Also to lift and clean the remains left by boats (ships) especially fishing boats, broken nets, lost buoys, ropes etc. This isn’t a criticism of the fishing fleets; it’s a reality we have to accept if we want to eat fish.

Another thing is garbage, especially plastic. In my page “The Sea, Politics and Money” I have a documentary titled “Plastic Seas”, it’s in English and for those of you who can’t understand it’s a shame. In this documentary they explain what happens with so much plastic in our oceans and how it comes to kill millions of creatures especially "Cetaceans". It’s incredible to think that a beast as big as a blue whale (the largest mammal on the planet) dies because of a plastic bag.

Politics in general are a farce. The only interest is winning elections and end up being corrupt. Imagine if a candidate proposed a body to clean the areas where this waste accumulates (Ports for example) and that there would be a rise in taxes to pay for mentioned body. Would you vote for him/her?

The Native Americans have a proverb which says something like:

“We do not inherit the earth from our fathers but borrow it from our children”

Educating youngsters (and adults, why not?) is a step in the right direction, but much too slow and I fear we are running out of time.

My proposal:

Ban fishing nets that are not biodegradable. As with ropes and other materials they need, but without raising the price of said articles. Not fine the boats that use nylon nets, ropes etc. but the manufacturers and outlets that sell them with impossible fines to pay thus closing down the company instantly.

For citizens who dump environmentally damaging material also fine very heavily and forget “bankruptcy”, I shall explain, For every 1000€ (or whatever currency) give the culprit the chose of paying with cash or time. For example, 3000€ or 3 months in prison (community service), let the culprit decide.

If I present myself to an election would you vote for me?
